First Steps

This group of guides are designed from people with no Fusion 360 experience. They will provide you with a solid understanding of how Fusion 360 can be used to create just about anything you can come up with.

Introduction Video

In this guide, all you have to do is watch. In this initial recording you will be toured around Fusion 360, shown what it is capable of and how it can be controlled to create a simple shape. This will make you more comfortable when you move onto using Fusion 360 yourself.

Basic Shape Creation

Here you will learn how to create a sketch containing a rectangle then use the extrude tool to create a cuboid. You will then use the orbit and pan tools to look around your 3D object.

Simple Cup

In this guide, you will learn how to add dimensions to the profiles in your sketches. You will use the extrude tool to extrude in the upwards and downward direction to specific height distances. You will also use the Fillet tool.

Light Switch

Here you will learn how to create a very basic light switch. You will be introduced to the Centre Rectangle tool and you will continue to use the Extrude tool with additional settings being utilised. This will help to make you more comfortable using the Extrude tool before we move onto other 3D tools in Fusion 360.

Lego Block

The Lego Block is an incredible piece of design and in this guide you will make a Lego Block based off the original specifications. You will use two tools you haven't seen before, the Rectangular Pattern tool and the Shell tool.

Cube Face

The Cube Face is a simple model that will push your knowledge of the Sketching Tools. You will learn how to use the Mirror Tool and how to easily position un-constrained shapes with your mouse.

Cube Face Headphones

In this Guide you will expand on the tools you have allready learnt and use new techniques such as creating sketches on Faces rather than Origin Planes. You will also cover creating Arcs and Outlines within a Sketch. Additionally, we will learn how to create Embossed text using the Text tool within a Sketch.

Vase Designs

The extrude tool has been used in every model we have made so far in this series. In this guide, we will move on to cover another tool, the revolve tool. The revolve tool can be used to create much more organic shapes, and we will use it to create abstract vases.

Cactus Plant Pot

In this guide you will design your own plant pot to fit the dimensions of an Ikea Cactus Plant. If you have access to one, this model can be 3D printed and the Cactus inserted into it.

Pencil

In this guide you will push your sketching skills to the next level by using the coincident constraint tool. This will allow you to have much greater control over the positioning of the elements in your sketches.

Mug

In this guide you will build on the skills you learnt from the Simple Cup guide. You will use two tools you haven't seen before, the pipe tool and the split body tool. Both will allow you to create a realistic handle for the mug.

Mug Rendering

Now we have created a realistic model of a mug, we will use the Render workspace within Fusion 360 to create a close to photo-realistic image of our mug. You will be able to experiment with different materials for your mug such as woods, metals and glass.
