Light Switch

Here you will learn how to create a very basic light switch. You will be introduced to the Centre Rectangle tool and you will continue to use the Extrude tool with additional settings being utilised. This will help to make you more comfortable using the Extrude tool before we move onto other 3D tools in Fusion 360.

New Sketch on the Front Plane

Select the Centre Rectangle tool in the Create Menu. Click on the centre of the sketch. Move your mouse out and click again.

Select the Dimension Tool in the Create Menu. Select the top edge, move your mouse then click again. Type 60mm. Press the Enter key. Repeat for the left edge.

Draw a second Centre Rectangle

Select the Dimension Tool in the toolbar. Set the width to 10mm. Set the height to 20mm.

Switch to the Select Tool

Finish Sketch

Extrude the outside ring of the sketch to 2mm.

Open the Sketches folder by clicking the arrow next to the Sketches Label. Click the Eye icon to show the Sketch within.

Click on the Extrude tool then click on the smaller rectangle of your sketch.

Type 4mm. Then click on the words "New Body" located on the right of the screen. Select New Body. Click Ok to finish.

Open the "Bodies" folder. Right-Click on the second body in the folder. Select "Move and Copy".

Click and Drag the rotation handle shown below. Adjust until the top edge of the switch is touching the surface of the frame. Click Ok.

Select the front Face of the Frame. Select the Fillet tool in the toolbar. Type 0.5mm. Click Ok.

Hide the Sketch by clicking the eye icon in the Hierarchy.

Select the Fillet Tool. Select the front edge of the switch. Drag the arrow to round to a value of your choosing.

Go to File then Save and enter a name for your file. Click Save.
