Cube Face

The Cube Face is a simple model that will push your knowledge of the Sketching Tools. You will learn how to use the Mirror Tool and how to easily position un-constrained shapes with your mouse.

New Sketch on the Bottom Plane

Draw a Centre Rectangle at the Origin (the centre) of the Sketch

Select the Dimension Tool to set the width of the Rectangle to 50mm and the Height to 50mm.

Finish Sketch

Select the Extrude tool and Extrude the rectangle to 50mm.

Click on the New Sketch button. Click on the Front Face of the Cube.

Select the Line Tool. Hover over the centre of the top edge. Click on the line when the Blue Midpoint Snap triangle appears. Click on the Origin.

Select the Line Tool and draw a Right Angled triangle as shown below.

Use the Line Tool to draw half of the mouth as shown below. Ensure that the path begins and ands on the centre line.

Use the Line Tool to draw a triangular inner eye.

Switch to the Select Tool

Click on the Mirror Tool Icon in the Toolbar. Hold Shift and click on all of the lines on the left side of the face. Double-Click to select a loop of lines.

Click on the box labeled 'Select' next to the 'Mirror Line' text. Click on the central line. Click Ok.

Finish Sketch

Select the Extrude tool then all of the profiles in the face. Type -5mm. Click Ok.

Select the Extrude tool followed by the two inner eyes. Select the 'Start' dropdown. Select 'Offset'. Type -5mm. Change the 'Operation' to 'Join'.

Hide the Sketch using the eye icon in the Hierarchy

Select the Fillet Tool. Click on all of the edges of the Cube. Drag the arrow in and type 2.5mm. Click Ok.

Secondary Face

Create a New sketch on the back of the cube. Repeat the steps above but use circles to create a face of your own design.

Adjusting Your Design

To Edit the Sketch after it has been created, Double-Click on the icon in the 'Timeline' at the bottom of the screen. Use the Select Tool to drag and resize sketch elements.

Saving

Go to File then Save then Name the file and click Save.
