Vase Designs
The extrude tool has been used in every model we have made so far in this series. In this guide, we will move on to cover another tool, the revolve tool. The revolve tool can be used to create much more organic shapes, and we will use it to create abstract vases.

New Sketch on the Front Plane

Select the Line Tool. Click the Origin. More your cursor horizontally left and type 40mm. Click Enter.

Use the Line Tool to draw a vertical line from the Origin. Type 100mm then press Enter.

Go to the Create Menu. Select Rectangular Pattern. Click on the two lines we created then drag the blue arrow to the right.

Type 600mm in the offset box. Click Ok.

Zoom into the left most set of lines.

Select the Fit Point Spline Tool in the toolbar. Click on the end of the horizontal line. Click to form a shape the same height as the middle line as shown. Click the Tick icon when finished.

Select the Offset tool in the toolbar. Select the arc. Type 3mm and click Ok.

Select the Line Tool. Draw a line between the ends of the two paths. Finish Sketch.

Click the Revolve Tool in the toolbar followed by the vertical line. Click Ok.

designing the second vase
Edit or sketch by double clicking the icon in the Timeline. Zoom to the second set of lines.

Use the Line Tool to draw a second shape starting at the end of the horizontal line. Ensure the path ends at roughly the same height as the central vertical line.

Select the Offset tool followed by the path. Type 3mm then click Ok.

Use the Line Tool to draw a line between the ends of the two paths.

Finish Sketch

In the Hierarchy, Un-Hide the sketch by click the eye icon.

Select the Revolve tool in the toolbar. Select the custom drawn profile. Click the box to the right of the Axis text. Select the middle vertical line. Click Ok.

designing the third and final vase
Double click the sketch icon in the Timeline then zoom into the final set of lines.

Use the Fit Point Spline tool to draw another design for vase.

Switch to the Select Tool. Click and drag the points on the path to adjust them.

Select the Offset tool followed by the path. Type 3mm then click Ok.

se the Line Tool to draw a line between the ends of the two paths. Finish Sketch.

Select the Revolve tool. Select the profile just drawn. In the Revolve Panel on the right of the screen, click the box next to the work 'Axis'. Click the vertical line. Click Ok.

Go to the Hierarchy and hide the sketch.

Go the the File menu then select Save. Choose a name then click Save.

rendering our designs
Click the large box in the top left of the screen labelled Design. Select the Render workspace from the dropdown.

Click the Colour wheel in the toolbar. Find a material in the panel on the right. Drag it onto the body in the Hierarchy.

Select another material from the same panel and drag it onto the target body.

Find a final material and drag it onto the final vase design.

Click the button in the toolbar with a green play button in the bottom corner.

Orbit around your designs to find an aesthetic angle.

Wait until the blue slider in the bottom right off your screen reaches the Excellent marker. Take a screenshot then show of your render to your classmates! 🎉
