Mug Rendering

Now we have created a realistic model of a mug, we will use the Render workspace within Fusion 360 to create a close to photo-realistic image of our mug. You will be able to experiment with different materials for your mug such as woods, metals and glass.

Open the model of the mug

Select the Fillet tool. Select the top two edges and the bottom edge of the mug. Type 0.7mm and click Enter.

Hide the Mug. Create a new Sketch on the Bottom Plane. Draw a large centre rectangle.

Use the Dimension tool to set the width and height to 1000mm. Finish Sketch. Make sure it is not hidden in the hierarchy.

Select the Extrude tool. Select the Rectangle. Type -10mm. Change the mode to New Body. Click Enter.

Click the 'Design' dropdown in the top left. Select Render.

Go to the Scene Settings icon. Set the Focal length to 150mm and the Aspect Ratio to Square.

Use the Orbit and Zoom tools to frame the mug in the centre of the Image.

Select the Appearance panel in the toolbar. Choose a material. Drag it onto the mug.

Find another material and drag it onto the floor.

Go to the Scene Settings Panel. Set the Brightness to 1700. Set the Exposure to 9.8 ev. Adjust to your liking if it is too bright.

Go to Scene Settings and enable Depth of Field. Click the top edge of the mug. Set the blur to 0.96. Click Close.

Click the render icon. Set the Width and Height to 1000px. Set the render quality to Standard. Click Render.

Wait for the image to appear in the bottom of the screen. Usually after 15 minutes it will be finished. Click the download button and save the image to your computer. Save your Fusion File.
